Protus3 supported and sponsored the University of North Carolina System at the inaugural UNC System Safety and Security Conference at UNC Asheville. Chris Peterson represented Protus3. The plan for the program is to connect over 200 safety and security professionals throughout the system on an annual basis.
The program included tracks for Clery, Student Affairs, Law Enforcement, Legal, Title IX and Environmental Health and Safety & Emergency Management professionals. It is exciting to see an initiative at the system level to build resources, networking and collaboration. These initiatives are critical to the well-being of the University of North Carolina System and other institutions of higher learning.
In an ideal world, our schools, colleges, and universities would be immune from the threats that affect other institutions. Unfortunately, we do not live in an ideal world. Academic institutions are cross-sections of society. They bear the same responsibilities for the safety and security of their populations and infrastructure. In addition, academic leaders must stay competitive in a global market that is highly regulated. They have a myriad of hard and soft assets – including their reputation – that require protection.
About the UNC System
The University of North Carolina system includes sixteen universities and one high school. The UNC system has an economic impact of over $3 billion annually in goods and services expenditures. The system educates over 200,000 students annually while employing over 50,000 individuals.
