Support the USO of North Carolina

This month, Risk Management Associates, Inc. is proud to be celebrating 24 years in the business of reducing crime, improving security, controlling access, and reducing controlable losses in both the public and private sectors. Keys to our success are simple and fall into four areas:

  • The integrity and diverse security expertise of our employees
  • Our focus on building long-term relationships with customers based on trust and responsiveness, and services
  • Our ability to create security solutions that are tailored to the customer’s operation, overall security program, and budget based on best practices, not equipement or technology we are trying to sell
  • Our commitment to the community and our belief that individuals and companies can make a positive difference in the world by utilizing their talents and treasures to improve and support a variety of philanthropic opportunities

In 2011, RMA continued to support a wide range of philanthropic opportunities, but one that is very dear to all of us is the USO of North Carolina. Many of you may know that right now we have more stars at the military bases in North Carolina than anywhere else on the planet with the exception of the Pentagon. That is important, but it is only said to highlight the growing need that we have in North Carolina for programs that support our military personnel and families who live, work, play, and travel through our state. The USO of North Carolina does just that, but did you know that:

  • All the money that is donated to the USO of North Carolina stays in North Carolina?
  • The money donated to the national USO supports overseas programs?
  • The USO of North Carolina gets no federal funding?
  • The original USO is located in North Carolina?

As a company, we have been a supporter of this amazing organization and the people who turn those donations into support for military personnel and their families, including the phone cards that allow service members to keep in touch with family, the outreach programs that are focused on strengthening the bond between the soldier and their children, the resources for soldiers with financial, physical and emotional challenges – the list goes on and on.

In addition to the support of the USO Gala, the opportunity to partner with the North Carolina Theatre’s “Share the Stars” program, and serving on the Board of Advisors in 2011, Chris Peterson was able to serve as the National Classification Management Society (NCMS) Carolinas Chapter Community Project Chairman. Along with a committee of members, we chose the USO of North Carolina and USO of South Carolina as the recipients of any donations we collected. As a committee, we settled on a raffle as our method of soliciting donations. After several months of diligent effort by the committee, we were able to solicit prizes to include Southwest airline tickets and “get away” weekends at the Marriott and a variety of bed and breakfast establishments. When Universal Printing jumped on board and offered to design and print the raffle tickets, we were set and ready to sell. The NCMS Carolinas Chapter is made up of members who are industrial contractors of the federal government in NC and SC. The whole chapter got involved, and in the end we were able to raise $4,333.00 one ticket at a time to support the mission of the USO chapters in the Carolinas.

On December 28, 2011, Linda Stender of CSC and Chris Peterson had the great pleasure of presenting a check to Connie Inggs, USO of North Carolina RDU Center Director, and Patricia DeZetter, Assistant Director, with a check for the proceeds collected by the NCMS Carolinas Chapter.

The USO of North Carolina’s message is pretty straightforward and direct. They need us. We need them. It’s that simple.
Risk Management Associates, Inc. would like to thank all the men and women of the United States Armed Forces, without whose continued efforts and sacrifices we would not be assured of our right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. As members of the security community, it is fitting for us to remember that soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines are the ultimate security force, without which our profession and our endeavors here at home would be moot.

We also want to thank the families of the men and women of the United States Armed Forces. Your daughters, sons, sisters, brothers, moms and dads are our lifesavers, and we thank you for sharing them with our country.

Plan. Protect. Prosper.
