Oak City Cares

Protus3 attended the ribbon cutting ceremony for Oak City Cares.

For this project, Protus3 provided Wake County with design and project management services for new electronic security devices. The new electronic security for the interior space was typical of similar projects throughout Wake County. Due to the location and type of facility, another key element in this design were the vehicle and pedestrian gates.

Oak City Cares is a hub for connecting individuals and families at risk of or experiencing homelessness to coordinated services that create a path to stable housing and renewed hope.

The Oak City Multi-Services Center is the culmination of several years of collaborative efforts. Partners include the City of Raleigh, Wake County, the Partnership to End and Prevent Homelessness, and Catholic Charities. The Center will serve as a place where people at risk of homelessness can be connected to an array of services. These services will help them transition to permanent housing. Oak City will also provide access to economic, medical, mental health and employment assistance. The Center will include a large multipurpose area for community meetings, training and weekend meal distribution. The core building space will meet basic needs, including access to telephones, computers, restrooms, bathing facilities and laundry. The Oak City Multi-Services Center will also provide meal distribution each weekend to an estimated 500 people per day.

The Oak City Multi-Services Center project includes site improvements and renovations to an existing warehouse building constructed in the 1950s. The newly renovated building will have approximately 20,291 SF of programmed area and 9,297 SF of future and mechanical space.
