Protus3 presented three training classes that have been approved for 6.00 hours of Continuing Legal Education (CLE) by the North Carolina State Bar. Courses and their descriptions are listed below.

Managing Aggressive Behavior and Workplace Violence for Law Offices presented by Christine L. Peterson, CPP, ISP

This continuing legal education course provides format, structure, and information to students such that they will be capable of helping preparing and implement workplace violence prevention and response plans for clients. This program examines the factors and behaviors that contribute to workplace violence. It also examines strategies and procedures to address this problem at the organizational and supervisory level. The presentation also includes analysis of previous incidents and the taxonomy of violence precursors and triggers in the workplace environment.

Digital Forensics for Legal Professionals – Benefits and Pitfalls presented by Rusty Gilmore, CISSP, CISM, EnCE

Digital forensics is a key component of the legal profession. Because almost every legal action has digital information associated with it, digital forensics is often of critical importance to attorneys and their ability to represent clients. Students were presented with information on the benefits of using digital forensics in legal matters. Real-world examples were provided.The class also included a discussion of more current technologies and practices, such as mobile devices and cloud computing. The class also included some of the limitations of digital forensics as well as investigative procedures.

Intelligence Gathering for Legal Professionals presented by Tasha Dyson

This continuing legal education course covers basic concepts and processes for conducting background investigations and due diligence for legal professionals. The course covers address searches, criminal/civil record searches, credit reports, driving histories, and other searches. In the second part of the course, students are provided with an overview of information available on social media. Finally, the course provides a brief overview of the various social media platforms (such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.) and the information contained on each.
