Architect Phil Freelon of Perkins + Will was the speaker at the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce’s C-Suite Perspectives program on February 19, 2016. This is an exciting program that invites successful business leaders to share their stories and leadership style with other current and rising business leaders. The program is held six times a year at the beautiful Umstead Hotel and Spa.
As the Managing and Design Director of the North Carolina practice at Perkins + Will and the founder of the Freelon Group which is now a part of Perkins + Will, Phil shared his philosophy and approach to the design of iconic buildings and projects including Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture, now in construction on the National Mall. He is also the design architect for the National Center for Civil Rights in Atlanta. His portfolio also includes the Museum of the African Diaspora in San Francisco, Emancipation Park in Houston, multiple library projects for the DC Public Library System and the Durham County Human Services Complex. Protus3 was a sponsor of the February 19 event.
